The deep state is real, and it’s not good when practiced by either side. If you take employment there you should take an oath, if you take an oath, you should live up to it. I feel I’m fairly patriotic, and for me that means being proud of the good things my country has accomplished and striving to fix the things in which we fall short. I know we’ve built something that has tremendous ability to be a force for change in the world, but also know we’ve used that power to royally f’ things up, both at home and abroad. We have massive potential, but we are often too lazy or deluded to fulfill it. We can never be ‘good enough’, there is always room for review and insight and improvement.
