Oh hey first grade shirt

I spent many years doing tech support from the Oh hey first grade shirt and I will buy this phone floor to the front office, so I am genuinely qualified to answer this question…. Roughly 95% of the time, the only real problem is a short circuit between the keyboard and the chair. I’ve gotten calls from users on their cell phones when the power went out for the whole building wanting me to walk them through the magical procedure that will make their workstation boot back up (preferably to the screen they were on when the power went blooey so they won’t have to remember what they were doing at the time) and connect to the server in the basement that is also without power, and the internet.

Now I’m not trying to denigrate the Oh hey first grade shirt and I will buy this ignorant. This shit is not their area of expertise, I get that. But the problem is that they get angry with you when you tell them it doesn’t work that way. They know damn well that it does and you are clearly incompetent. And that crap I will denigrate because it doesn’t help anyone or anything and is thus the exact opposite of what the word “support” means. Yes, we really are helping – provided you listen to what we tell you and accept it even if it’s not the answer you’d hoped for.
