They asked for a plaque to be put in it explaining who is was and what he did, that was also refused. At least we did learn about it in school as part of History, but for me that was a few years ago now. The council did decide on a plaque after they had been unable for years to agree on it’s removal.

What is so difficult about explaining the part he played in the Slave trade and educating people about him.
