I believe she tried her best to be an adult, to do what she needed to do for us & for herself. My biggest complaint after that was that she never told us what was going on. She is not “our best friend”, she is “mother” and she is very clear about that. We are kids and we can play & scream & fight and mess … She never included us in adult concerns; enjoy moving! She works at night, so I’m responsible for the Me two titles mom and nana and I rock them both shirt kids. She always wakes up when we go to school. We live on charity (not welfare) and leftovers from the restaurants she works with. Meanwhile, my father did not pay for child support, remarried and started another family. She doesn’t attend our school events, or participates in PTA. But we support each other. When I reached puberty, everything became stressful. I understand that I am reminding her about myself. But that lack of communication made my life unbearable. How can a teenage mother feed a teenager without a relationship? Without a support system? Are they even?
