My choice for beginners in original Pokémon games is Squirtle. I’ll give you an example: if you think you’re in trouble with Brock (for example, if you grab Charmander), head west to Viridian City and pick up a Mankey. He learned a battle move early enough, and once it did, it would crush Brock. It seems the colder regions like Finland where I live only have a small chance to find Charmander and other types of fire in general.
